Blue & Gold Weekend ~
On Friday, September 23 at 7:30 pm, alums are invited to watch the student bonfire from the best vantage point on campus - the Haertter Hall Overlook. This year we'll show some highlights from the Bomber football progam induction intothe Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Celebratory beverages will be served.
On Saturday, September 24, join us for the Fun Run. Register at in the MICDS Founder's Court at 7:30 am and begin the 2.5 mile walk/run from MICDS to JBS at 8:00 am. Pre-register with Lisa Yost. The whole family is invited to engage in a little exercise while strutting some large blue & gold spirit.
This year only: Experience a piece of Bomber history. During the Varisty football game at halftime, players and coaches (representing 4 1/2 decades of Bomber football) will be recognized in a brief walk-on ceremony at the 50-yard line. Gather the kids and head to the Quad for our annual picnic. Flash that winning smile in our photo booth and enjoy face painting and frosty treats. Stop by the Spirit Tent and snap up all of the blue and gold gear you need to cheer the Bomber on to victory over Trinity at 1pm.

JBS in Chicago ~ On Friday, August 26, Andy Abbott greeted more than sixty alums and friends at Celeste for cocktails and appetizers. See photos. On Saturday, August 27 the JBS Varsity Football Bombers faced the Lake Forest Caxys. See pictures from pre-game picnic here.
The southern California reception was held on Thursday, June 23 at The City Club - LA. More than 60 alums and friends gathered to reconnect and chat with Andy Abbott. See photos.
The JBS Alumni Day of Service was held on Saturday, May 21 in Forest Park. We partnered with The Flora Conservancy to spread mulch in the planting beds around the Jewel Box. Participating alums were from the classes of 1955 through 2012. It was a beautiful day - see photos here.
JBS Links & Drinks: The 22nd Annual Golf Tournmanet & Cocktail Party was held on Thursday, May 12 at Algonquin Golf Club. The rains finally stopped and it was a beautiful day for golf! About 140 people attended the cocktail receptions afterward. Check out the photos here.
Camaraderie and Cocktails at Truffles, for the classes of 1940-1965, was held on Tuesday, April 12. More than 60 people turned out and everyone had a grand time reconnecting with classmates and friends. See photos here.

Skate Break - The weather was unseasonably warm, but that didn't stop alums and their families from enjoying the Alumni Skate Break at Shaw Park on Sunday, January 31. Attendees enjoyed skating, cocoa, cookies and camaraderie.
Art for Breakfast ~ About 150 alums and friends met at the Saint Louis Art Museum on Saturday, January 9 to take docent-led tours of the St. Louis Modern exhibit. Check out the photos here.
Winterlude ~ Many from the JBS community gathered in the Commons, between the two holiday programs, on Thursday, December 17, for cocoa, cookies and conversation.
Open House for Prospective Students was held on Saturday, October 24. We had more than 500 people on campus! Thanks to all of the alumni board members who helped greet visitors.

Thursday, October 8 ~ Alums gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Bonsack Gallery and to view a photo exhibit by Janelle Jones '05 in the Kuehner Gallery, which will be up until November 30.
Friday, October 9 ~ The annual Alumni Cocktail party was held in the Commons and more than 300 people attended to catch up.
Saturday, October 10 ~ The Alumni Picnic was held in the Quad and it was a beautiful day with a photo booth, face painting and balloons.
JBS in Atlanta ~ On Saturday, October 3, Atlanta alums gathered in midtown for a happy hour at Fado Irish Pub. We planned to attend the Cards vs. Braves baseball game that night, but we had a rain out and the game was postponed til Sunday.
Blue & Gold Weekend - On Friday, September 25 alums and parents met on the Haertter Hall Overlook to watch the students light up the night with the annual Bonfire. Early on Saturday, September 26 alums, parents and friends gathered for the annual 2.5 mile Fun Run between MICDS and JBS.
Legacy Breakfast - About 30 people attended the Legacy Breakfast on Saturday, August 22 in the dining room. The event was held for incoming students whose parent, grandparent and/or great-grandparent attended JBS. It was a great morning and nice to welcome new faces to teh Burroughs community.
JBS Black Alumni Alliance Kickoff - About 40 alums and friends gathered for a cocktail party on Friday, July 3 in the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill. It was a great time tore- connect with old friends and listen to music.
JBS in L.A. - Many, many JBS alums, their families and friends attended a meet & greet with Scott Van Slyke '05 before the Cards vs. Dodgers game in L.A. on Sunday, June 7. On Wednesday, June 10 area alums met up again at La Piazza in The Grove for happy hour.
4-Years Out Party - Many members of the Class of 2011 and their parents gathered on campus on Tuesday, June 2 to catch up and find out where everyone is headed after graduating from college.
Alumni Day of Service - The Alumni Board and other members of the JBS commmunity had planned to help Gateway Greening with a gardening project at Bell Garden, but it was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Senior Welcome - The JBS Alumni Association welcomed the 98 graduating members of the Class of 2015 to the ranks at a reception on Thursday, May 21.
Links & Drinks - The annual golf tournament was held at Algonquin Golf Club on Thursday, May 7th. It was an absolutely beautiful spring day and everyone who played had a great time. Many other alums and friends joined the fun at the cocktail party immediately following.
Denver/Boulder Gatherings: JBS hosted a cocktail reception for about 50 people on Thursday, April 30 at Elway's in Cherry Creek and a luncheon at Jill's at the St. Julien Hotel on Friday, May 1.
50+ Luncheon: Saturday, April 4. About 60 people attended the luncheon for alums who have had their 50th reunion. Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a beautiful spring day! See photos here.

Boston Reception - About 70 fearless alums and friends gathered in Boston on February 25 at Legal Harborside. Thanks to all of you who made the effort to weather the storm - Everyone had a great time.
About 45 members from the classes of 1955 through 1964 gathered at Truffles for camaraderie and cocktails on Tuesday, January 27. It was a great evening of catching up with fellow alums.

The annual Bomber Ice Hockey Game (Alumni players vs. Varsity team) was held on Tuesday, December 23 at the Brentwood Ice Rink.
The Gingerbread House Decorating Event on Saturday, December 6th was great fun and about 170 people (alums and their children) attended. Check out the photos here!

It was great seeing so many alums and friends at the San Francisco Reception on Thursday, November 20, at Coqueta. Even with the rainy weather we had close to 100 people gather at Pier 5! See the photos here.
Art for Breakfast on Saturday, November 15 was such a fun morning! About 110 people joined members of the JBS Fine Arts Committee, who were docents and led tours around the campus, discussing many of the works of art in the Burroughs Collection. See the photos here.
Thanks to all who came back for Alumni Weekend 2014: October 16-18. It was great to see hundreds of alums on campus at the following events:
~ Wine & Cheese / Art Opening on Thursday with exhibits by Susan Hockaday Jones '56 in the Bonsack Gallery and Robert Walker (fine arts, retired) in the Kuehner Gallery; the evening also featured a poetry reading by Bob Henningsen in the faculty lounge.
~ Cocktail Party on Friday night had a great crowd of alumni & firends in the Commons.
~ Picnic on Saturday brought alumni & their families back to campus, with live entertainment by Larry McMahon '69 and his band The Panics. Faculty member Dr. Mark Smith (history) started the day with a lecture in the faulty lounge titled Music of the 1960s and 1970s: Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll.
Ellen Moceri TEDx Presentation - Former JBS history teacher and co-founder of Aim High St. Louis, Ellen Moceri gave her TEDx presentation, "Private Schools with a Public Purpose," on Thursday, October 2 in Haertter Hall. The one-hour program was followed by a brief reception. More than 250 alumni and friends attended.
JBS & MICDS Fun Run - About 300 runners, walkers, strollers and bicycle riders joined in the fun on Saturday, September 27 for the 2.5 miles trek from JBS to MICDS. Everyone had a great time visiting before the walk/run. See the photos here.
Tony Reed '73 was the inaugural speaker in our Alumni Speaker Series. Tony is a global business executive and seven-continent marathoner, and he spoke to the students at morning assembly on September 19.
On Tuesday, September 9, alums from the 90s and 00s gathered on campus for a networking happy hour, JBS Talks. Featured speakers included Adam Birenbaum '96, who is CEO of Buckingham Asset Management, Amy George Rush '92, who is author of "Under One Flag," and Brian Swift '95, who owns Swift Incentives. On Saturday, August 16, Andy Abbott greeted all new students who are children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Alumni in the dining room for a casual continental breakfast. This year we welcome 29 new legacy students.
A great crowd of 1,200 gathered on May 10, 2014 to enjoy the Campus Dedication and Celebration. We have "grounds to celebrate!"

A Naples, FL reception was held on Thursday, March 20 at the home of Irl and Sue Engelhardt. Alums and friends of Burroughs heard about the campus improvements from Head of School Andy Abbott, while enjoying great food and a beautiful sunset.
Alumni Skate Break - About 80 Burroughs alumni and family members gathered at Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park on Sunday, February 9 to enjoy an afternnon of skating. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful falling snow, cocoa and cookies!
Seattle Reception: On Wednesday, January 15 about 45 alumni and friends gathered at the Edgewater Hotel to catch up and hear about the transformed JBS campus.
The Alumni Ice Hockey Game was held Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 6pm to 7pm at Ice Zone (Mills). Everyone who showed up to play or watch had a fun time!
The Winterlude - A holiday reception for the Burroughs community was held on Thursday, December 19, 6:30-7:30 pm in the new Commons, between the two holiday program performances. More than 400 alums, parents, grandparents, students and faculty gathered to celebrate the season.

1980s Decade Party - Battle of the Bands Party was held on Saturday, August 24 in the new Athletic Center and featured the 80s bands Loose Change and Deaf Mefford. More than 140 alums from the classes of 1980 through 1989 re-connected with their JBS classmates and everyone had a great time. Click here for photos.
Entrepreneurship in St. Louis - This networking event, sponsored by the JBS Alumni Association and Arch Grants, was held on Wednesday, June 12 at LAB 1500. More than 70 alumni and parents enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a panel discussion with Burroughs alumni and moderated by Arch Grants. Click here for photos.
Golf Tournament for Alumni & Friends - The 22nd annual golf tournament was held on Friday, May 17 at the Bogey Club. Everyone had a fun time as raindrops kept falling on their heads! Check out the photos.
Farewell to Haertter Hall Reception - The goodbye to Haertter Hall party, held on Saturday, May 11, was attended by around 150 students, alums, parents, past parents and grandparents. The reception was held in The Commons prior to the final performance of the JBS Players' production of The Madwoman of Chaillot. There was a slide show spanning 55 years. Attendees were encouraged to write messages on the walls of the Commons. If you would still like to submit memories of Haertter Hall, please send them to Lisa Yost.
Chicago Area Reception - Andy Abbott greeted more than sixty alumni and friends in the Windy City on Thursday, April 18 at The Gage. He shared a video about the Campaign for Burroughs and talked about the progress on the two new buildings on campus.
San Francisco Area Reception - Alumni and friends joined Andy Abbott on Thursday, April 11 at 25 Lusk, had a great time, and learned about the transformations occurring on the Burroughs campus.
Young Alumni Happy Hour - Young alums from four secondary schools, including Burroughs, enjoyed happy hour on April 10 at the Cheshire Inn in Clayton.
Reception in New York City - The capital campaign's national launch was held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, hosted by alumni co-chair Jon Hamm '89. About 300 people attended the event, held at Danny Meyer's '76 Union Square Events Kitchen! Alums from the classes of 1954 to 2012 were present. Phonathons - More than 50 alums made calls to classmates during February to drum up support for Annual Giving 2013.
1990's Prom - Alumni from the classes of 1990 through 1999 had a blast at "prom" on Saturday, February 2, 2013, if the photos are any indication!

Winterlude - About 170 alums and parents from the classes of 2000 through 2012 gathered in the Howard Stamper Library on campus to enjoy treats and catch up with each other on Wednesday, December 19. The Winterlude was held between the two performances of the Holiday Program. Many alums and their parents attended this year because this was the final Holiday Program held in the "old" Haertter Hall. The new Haertter Hall will be part of the new performing arts center, currently under construction. Check out the latest capital campaign news.
Gingerbread House Decorating - A sold-out crowd of alumni and their kids or nieces/nephews enjoyed decorating gingerbread houses on Saturday, December 1, 2012, in the Dining Room. Many thanks to alumni coordinators Becky Streett Melander '87, Ben Beinfeld '89 and Amy George Rush '92.
2012 Alumni Weekend - Wednesday, October 10- Sunday, October 14.
Hundreds of alums and their families gathered on campus for various group events, and then hosted their individual parties off campus. Quinta Dunn Scott '59 was the featured artist in the Kuehner Gallery and Jason Torrey '00 and his band entertained us with wonderful music during the alumni picnic on Saturday. 1970's Decade Cocktail Party - That 70s Party - All members of the classes of 1970 through 1979 were invited to a cocktail party at the Bogey Club on Friday, October 5.
Members of the Burroughs community came out to cheer on the Bombers play volleyball, soccer, tennis, field hockey, cross country and football over Blue & Gold weekend. Many alums gathered under the Spirit Tent at "The Big Game" to see the Varsity Football team defeat MICDS 55-7!
Alumni, students, parents and faculty from JBS and MICDS - more than 200 total - participated in the annual Fun Run on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Runners and walkers went from JBS to MICDS early in the morning to kick off a fun day of athletic activities.
