About the Varsity Coaches
Andy Katzman (JBS '85) has coached Burroughs baseball program for 25 years. As an all-state baseball player for Burroughs, he led the Bombers to the 1985 state championship. After graduating from Burroughs, Katzman went on to play baseball at Wake Forest University and St. Louis University. He returned to Burroughs after college and served as the assistant varsity coach for 12 years, leading the Bombers to three final four appearances and a state championship in 1991. Katzman became head coach in 2001 and has continued to develop a baseball program which is considered to be one of the finest programs in the St. Louis area. Katzman holds a degree in political science from St. Louis University.
Davey Desloge (JBS '94) joined the Burroughs faculty in 2007 and is the sports information director, varsity baseball and varsity soccer coach, a 7th and 8th grade physical education teacher and a faculty sponsor of the junior class. Prior to coming to Burroughs, Desloge was a third grade teacher at Forsyth School in St. Louis and a fourth grade teacher at New Canaan Country School in Connecticut. He played baseball at JBS under former athletic director Jim Lemen and current varsity coach Andy Katzman and played soccer under current JBS faculty members Kevin McKone. Desloge has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University.
Scott Deken joined the Burroughs faculty in 2005. Scott played collegiate baseball at the College of the Ozarks in Branson, Missouri. Scott was the starting shortstop his freshman and sophomore years but due to an arm injury moved to firstbase for his final two years. Scott was named team captain his junior and senior years and was voted team MVP his senior year. Deken holds a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from College of the Ozarks and a doctorate in neurobiology from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Before joining the Burroughs community Scott worked as a researcher in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at Washington University in St. Louis. Scott is also the principal of grades 9 and 10, teaches Behavioral Neuroscience, and serves as an advisor.

About the JV Coaches
Jeff Dee joined the Burroughs faculty in 2008. Jeff played collegiate baseball for Carleton College, earning a varsity letter all four years and captained the team his senior year. Prior to coming to Burroughs, Dee taught English and coached baseball, track and cross country for 30 years in the Parkway School District. He served as chair of the English department for his last four years at Parkway West. Dee holds a bachelor's degree in English from Carleton College and a master's in English literature from Washington University. He teaches 7th grade English and coaches basketball and baseball.
William Feuerbacher (JBS ‘06) returned to Burroughs in 2011 to help manage the health club, teach physical education, and coach the 7th & 8th grade football and baseball teams. He now coaches C football, intramural fitness and JV baseball as well. A personal trainer and strength coach, Feuerbacher holds a CSCS from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He graduated from Miami University (Ohio) in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
