Flower |
Irregular, bluish to dark purple
and pea-shaped. Individual flowers (2 to 9) cluster together
and are attached along one side of the stem (raceme). Each flower
has 5 petals two of which are joined together forming a "keel"
like structure. |

Leaves |
Pinnately compound, with two stipules
at the base of each leaf. The stipules are toothed. Tendrils,
used for climbing, are present at the tip of each leaf. |
