Shady moist deciduous woods.

 Flower
Solitary, at the end of a slightly drooping stalk, large, white, 3 petals and 3 green sepals. The stamens are white unlike the pink stamens of the Nodding Trillium. In this species the petals are also straight unlike the recurved petals of the Nodding Trillium.

 Leaves
Simple, stalkless and toothless. 3 leaves (3-5 inches) attached in a single whorl.
