Early spring, perennial

 Habitat
Dry deciduous woods with lots of shade and acid soils. Plant blooms before leaves appear on the trees.

 Flower
Regular, pale blue with 6 round (sometimes more) petal-like sepals. Three green bracts with rounded tips are attached below the sepals. The flower stalk is hairy and supports a single blossom.

 Leaves
Simple, with three rounded lobes, and basal attachment. The leaf stalk is hairy.
