Introduction

This website is the result of a Christmas gift. A good friend gave my wife and me a copy of Stan Tekiela's Field Guide to the Wildflowers of Minnesota. The guide remained unused until we arrived back north in May, 2000 and then we were captured by the beauty of the wildflowers around us and by the fun of identifying and photographing them. The photographs remind us of those many wonderful hours we spent last spring, summer and fall exploring roadsides, bike trails, woods and meadows looking for new species. In total, more than eighty species were identified in the region of the state extending from Milaca north to Pierz, Brainerd, Pequot Lakes, Walker and then west to Park Rapids. We hope the information and photographs posted here will encourage you to join us next year in observing the beauty of wildflowers. You might get an early start by asking for these Christmas gifts.
