Moist woods with rich soil and open sunny areas.

 Flower
Regular, white, a single blossom per plant grows under two umbrella shaped leaves. The blossom emerges from a leaf axil. Each blossom has 6 to 9 petals, with many yellow stamens surrounding a single club like pistil.

 Leaves
Palmately lobed, up to 12 inches in diameter, one or two per plant, coarsely toothed. Plants grow up to 18 inches tall and spread forming dense colonies.
