Scientific Name - Liatris ligulistylus

 Season
Perennial, late summer and early fall.

 Habitat
Prefers full sun, dry soils with some sand.

 Flower
Composite, purple, heads form a spike, flower stalks long(1/2" to 1"), bracts beneath the head are rounded and their margins are dark. Flower heads open from the top and progress down the spike.

 Leaves
Simple, alternate, thin and lance shaped, entire.
