Prairies, open fields and roadsides.

 Flower
Bell shaped with two lips, in a spike like terminal cluster, pale purple, 11/2 to 2 inches long with 5 stamens. One stamen is hairy and the anther is missing.

 Leaves
Opposite, entire, somewhat oblong in shape.
