 Season
Perennial, late spring to early summer..

 Habitat
Bogs, swamps, and coniferous forests where the soil is acid.

 Flower
Pink but the color fades as the blossom ages. Each stalk bares a single flower. The flower consists of one inflated petal with three twisted brown sepals.

 Leaves
Simple, oval and basal. Two leaves are attached to the base of each flower stalk.
