 Season
Perennial, blooms spring to early summer.

 Habitat
Grows best in areas with some shade but is often found growing in full sun as well. Prefers moist soils associated with deciduous woods and streamsides.

 Flower
5 petals, each petal somewhat heart shaped. Petals are fused at the base to form a hollow tube. Color varies from blue to purple and rose.

 Leaves
Dark green, simple, lance shaped, grow opposite and spread from the base. Petioles lacking.
