The flowering part of the plant consists
of a white canopy (the spathe) that surrounds a club shaped structure
(the spandix). Tiny yellow flowers cover the spandix and are
somewhat protected by the surrounding spathe. |

Leaves |
Leaf stalks emerge from the water
and hold the blade above the water's surface. Each blade is heart
shaped and notched. Individual leaves are up to 6" long,
dark green and have a glossy appearance. |
