~ Upcoming Events ~

GO!St. Louis Marathon ~ Saturday, April 7.  Join members of the Burroughs community in Forest Park for Go! St. Louis in April. Burroughs will host a hospitality tent for the Saturday, April 7, events — the 5K walk/run (age 8 and older), Children's Fun Run (ages 2-7) and Mature Mile (age 60+). Stop by to check your belongings before your chosen run and to catch up with other members of the JBS community. Click here to register, and use the coupon code "JBSGO5" to save $5 off the ticket price for the 5K (not applicable for the children's run or the 60+ run). The same code will save $5 on the ticket for the marathon or half marathon, both of which will take place on Sunday, April 8. Contact Emma Birge-Osborne (ext 255) for more information.

Alumni Day of Service ~ Saturday, April 21.  we will join forces with the Flora Conservancy again this year in Forest Park.  Details to come.

Skate Break ~ Sunday, January 7, 2018, 4:30-7:30 PM ~ On Sunday, January 7, about 20 alums braved the rain and freezing temperatures to enjoy skating, hot cocoa and cookies at Shaw Park Ice Rink.  See photos here.

Winterlude ~ Thursday, December 14, 6:30 - 7:30 PM ~ On Thursday, December 14, about 400 students, parents, alums, faculty and staff gathered in the Commons for cookies and hot cooca between the holiday programs.

Blue & Gold at the Glow ~ On Thursday, December 7, about 30 young alums gathered for a happy hour at Sasha's on Shaw followed by Garden Glow at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. See photos here.

Four Years in the Making ~ On Saturday, November 25, about 85 members of the class of 2014, parents, faculty and staff gathered in the Commons to catch up with one another. See photos here.

JBS Alumni Ice Hockey Game ~ On Friday, November 24, 30+ alums participated in the JBS Alumni Hockey Game at the Webster Grove Ice Arena. Check out the group photo here.

Open House for Prospective Students and Parents ~ On Saturday, October 21 hundreds of prospective families visited campus to hear about Burroughs and tour campus.  If you or someone you know would like to find out more about the Admissions process, click here.

Alumni Weekend was held Thursday, October 12 - Saturday, October 14: Hundreds of alums from ten classes (years ending in 2s and 7s) headed back to campus to celebrate their reunions and spend time on campus.

Alumni Family Picnic ~ On Saturday, October 14, many gathered in the Quad for a picnic lunch and were entertained by The Twangadours featuring Larry McMahon '69 and Joe Dreyer '73.  There was a photo booth, face painter and frosty treats for dessert.  See photos here.

Taste of Burroughs ~ On Friday, October 13, the Quad was transformed into a street fair atmosphere ~ 200+ alums dined on a sampling of small plates from restaurants owned by our talented alumni.  We also celebrated our 2017 alumni award recipients: Jane Smiley '67, Oustanding Alum Award and Beth Adams Louis '72, Distinguished Service Award.  See photos here.

Art Opening ~ On Thursday, October 12, around 200 alums, students, friends, families and faculty/staff gathered to celebrate the opening of the painting exhibit, Close to Home, by the late Linda Dubinsky Skrainka '57. See photos here.

Blue & Gold Weekend ~ On Saturday, September 23, over 200+ students, alums and families participated in the JBS/MICDS Fun Run.  See photos here.

Legacy Breakfast ~ On Saturday, August 19, we welcomed our newest students who have parents, grandparents and/or great-grandparents who attended JBS. See photos here.a

Links & Drinks ~   The 25th Annual Golf Tournament  & Cocktail Party was held on Thursday, May 18 at Algonquin Golf Club.  It was a beautiful day for golf and, afterwards, about 140 people attended the cocktail reception. See photos here.

Young Alumni Happy Hour ~ On Thursday, May 11, about 45 young alums (from the classes of 2000-2012) gathered at the BHIVE in the Central West End  to enjoy conversation and cocktail demonstrations. See photos here.

Art for Breakfast ~ On Saturday, May 6, about 100 people from the JBS community gathered for a continental breakfast and saw the art exhibitions at The Mildred Lane Kemper Museum on the Washington University campus. See photos here.

Alumni Day of Service ~ We had more than twenty-five alums, friends and students gather on Saturday, April 22 at the Jewel Box in Forest Park, to help The Flora Conservancy dig up tulips and prepare the beds for summer annuals.  We all had a great time.

Celebrate Stamper...On To The Next Chapter ~ A reception was held on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 4 to 6 pm; we said farewell to the old Stamper Library and hello to the new Stamper Family Library through a virtual reality tour.  More than ninety alums, friends and faculty (former and current) attended. JBS in Texas ~ On Saturday, January 21, about 25 alums and friends gathered at the historic Driskill Hotel in downtown Austin for a reception. See photos.  Then on Tuesday, January 24, almost 30 alums and friends looked out over downtown Dallas from The City Club (70 floors up).  Thanks to those who were able to attend - It was great to see everyone. JBS Defeats MICDS 2 - 1 in the Ice Hockey Winter Classic!  About 200 brave souls faced the freezing temperatures on Friday, January 6 at Busch Stadium to cheer the Bombers on to V-I-C-T-O-R-Y. See photos here.

Alumni Hockey Game ~ The annual Bomber ice hockey game was held at Creve Coeur Rink on Wednesday, December 21 - Alumni Players vs. Varsity Team. 

Winterlude ~was held between the two holiday programs on Thursday, December 15 in The Commons. More than 150 alums, students, parents, past parents, grandparents, faculty and staff joined the holiday fun with cookies and cocoa. See photos here.

2017 Reunions ~ A planning meeting was held on Tuesday, December 6 for classes ending in 2's and 7's.  If you are interested in helping plan your reunion in Fall 2017, please contact Lisa Holekamp Yost.

Gingerbread House Decorating Party ~ On Saturday, December 3, more than 140 alums & friends and their children gathered in the dining room for a fun morning of gingerbread house decorating.  See photos.

4 Years Out Party ~ On Friday, November 25, over 75 alums and parents from the Class of 2013 gathered in the Commons to catch up with one another. See photos.

Alumni Weekend of 2016 was held October 6 - 8 and it was great to see so many local alums and those from years ending in 1s and 6s.

Art Opening ~ On Thursday, October 6, alums joined us in the Bonsack Gallery for wine and cheese and to enjoy the photography of Martin Schweig '42. See photos.

One Woman Show ~ On Thursday, October 6, singer and actor Rosalinde Block '70 performed Drama of the Gifted Grownup  in the Black Box Theatre.

Alumni Awards Reception ~ On Friday, October 7, many alums were back on campus and enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres as we celebrated the 2016 alumni award recipients: Butch Buchholz '59, Outstanding Alumni Award:  Pat Esserman '51 and John Esserman '56, Distinguished Service Award. See photos.

Film Preview ~ On Saturday, October 8, alums met in Haertter Hall to view the first four chapters of Oh Yeah, a documentary of songwriter and riverboat captain John Hartford '56.

Family Picnic ~ On Saturday, October 8, many gathered for the annual picnic before cheering on Bomber Football as they played Trinity. See photos.

Blue & Gold Weekend ~ On Saturday, September 24, we had a great crowd for the JBS/MICDS Fun Run.

JBS in Chicago ~ On Friday, August 26, Andy Abbott greeted more than sixty alums and friends at Celeste for cocktails and appetizers. See photos. On Saturday, August 27 the JBS Varsity Football Bombers faced the Lake Forest Caxys. See pictures from pre-game picnic here

The southern California reception was held on Thursday, June 23 at The City Club - LA. More than 60 alums and friends gathered to reconnect and chat with Andy Abbott.  See photos.
