After claiming the school’s third league championship, the high school chess team took second in state, a half point out of first place. Jason Zhou ’19 tied for third on the first board; Henry Edmonds ’19 and Ian Bradley ’17 tied for fourth on the second board; Avi Goldberg ’19 tied for third on the third board and Jake Kovalic ’17 tied for eleventh on the third board; and Matthew Yee ’19 tied for second and Collin Bradley ’19 tied for twelfth on the fourth board. Jason also defended his title at the Missouri High School Tournament of Champions and, as a result, he will represent Missouri in the national Tournament of High School Champions this summer. The middle school chess team finished sixth in state, and Reza Mofidi ’21 won a medal.
The 4211 robotics team competed as one of 72 FIRST Technical (FTC) teams from 13 states at the North Super Regional competition and claimed the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award. The team advances to the Worlds competition as one of the top 2 percent of 4,672 FTC teams from 10 countries. It is the only St. Louis team that qualified.
