Ellen Trovillion '73 was selected as one of the finalists in the 2018 St. Louis Post-Dispatch Thanksgiving Non-Pie Dessert Contest for her Holiday Cranberry-Orange Cream Cake: "Trovillion won our contest in 2016 and was runner-up in 2013. Her multistep recipe includes three layers of a fluffy buttermilk cake brushed with a Grand Marnier-scented simple syrup. Two of the layers are topped with an orange pastry creme and homemade cranberry sauce, and the whole thing is coated in a Swiss meringue buttercream frosting decorated with toasted almonds and candied cranberries.
