Kennedy Holmes '23 was featured in the January/February issue of Sophisticated Living, including a photo collage, a short profile, and a list of her top 10 "can't-live-withouts": "From Florissant to the fast lane of Hollywood: as the youngest contestant on NBC’s The Voice, Kennedy Holmes is now a household name across the country. The St. Louis native shot to fame by getting the coveted ‘four judge turn around’ during the blind auction round. With offers and praise to join the teams of Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine, she chose her idol, and the rest is history. ‘When I said it was a dream to sing with J Hud, she was like “I’m ready.” I was just trying not to cry. You know singing and crying don’t go well together and when she got up to the stage and said “you have a gift” I could not believe it at first. I was like, this is a dream. I am just so thankful,’ Kennedy says of that first round win when she performed with Jennifer Hudson. Kennedy’s first audition went viral with millions of views on YouTube before the show even premiered. ‘I’m honored because I’m trying to rep St. Louis, and now that a lot of people know me and I have a lot of supporters I’m extremely thankful.’ And extremely humble and mature through her victories. She recently celebrated her 14th birthday, both on national television and on Skype with her John Burroughs classmates, and then with fans at Ballpark Village. After all, she is a St. Louis girl at heart, listing, are you ready for it … our weather, as one of her top ‘can’t live withouts!’" See the photo spread and read the story in its entirety (on pages 86 and 87) here.
