The Montgomery Plan reports that its Danna Drive raised $1,000 for Kingdom House, another $1,000 in gift cards and a truckload of teen holiday gifts, household cleaners, hygiene products, baby-care items, gently used clothing and laundry supplies. The volunteers sorted donations, assembled packages of underwear and socks and helped in the Kingdom House day care center. Event photos are posted on the Montgomery Plan photo page.
Old Newsboys Day: On Thursday, November 17, Montgomery Plan volunteers will take donations for Old Newsboys Day, which supports many regional children's charities. They will be stationed on the corners of Price and Ladue Roads, Price and Clayton Roads and at the entrances to campus from 6:30 to 8:45 am.
Holiday Food Drive: Montgomery Plan will collect nonperishable food items for Isaiah 58, a St. Louis food pantry, from Monday, November 28, through Thursday, December 15. Parents are encouraged to contribute nonperishable items while on campus in December (7th & 8th grade play, parent meetings, Holiday Program, etc). Parents can also support the collections at Straub's Markets on Saturday, December 3 (Central West End, Town and Country, Webster and Clayton stores). Students will join forces with their advisory groups in the annual food sculpture competition on Wednesday, December 7.
Spring Break Service Trip: The 2017 service trip will take place during the second week of spring break (leaving Sunday, March 26, or Monday, March 27). Students and chaperones will travel to Kansas City for three to four days of active volunteering, service learning and fun excursions. Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate, and costs are largely (perhaps entirely) covered by the Jack Orchard Fund. The number of participants may be limited. Students should indicate their interest by speaking to Rachael Barnes (Mathematics; Montgomery Plan).
