The Department of Theatre, Speech and Dance will present Legally Blonde at 7:30 pm on Thursday, February 28 through Saturday, March 2 in Haertter Hall. Legally Blonde tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority president who enrolls in Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend — but finds her calling, and her true self, along the way.
The musical is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon. It appeared on Broadway in 2007, and received seven Tony nominations. It would eventually go on to air on MTV.
The Burroughs production of Legally Blonde will be performed with a cast of 37, featuring Isabella Koster ’20 as Elle Woods, Ben Cummings ’19 as Emmett Forrest, Lindsey Okafor '20 as Paulette, Matthew Stroup ’20 as Professor Callahan, Rob Leavitt ’20 as Warner Huntington III, and Cary Smith ’19 as Vivienne Kensington.
Legally Blonde is directed by Taylor Pietz (Music/Theatre, Speech and Dance), with musical direction by Jerry Estes (Music). Set and props are by Brian Connor (Theatre, Speech and Dance). Carla Landis Evans is the costume designer. Sophie Sinton ’20 serves as the production stage manager, Gabby Randall ’20 and Keerthana Madireddi ’20 are the assistant stage managers, and Sammy Bernstein ’19 is the assistant to Ms. Pietz.
Tickets for Legally Blonde are available in the JBS bookstore and can also be purchased at the Theatre Box Office 30 minutes before curtain on performance days. All seats are general admission and priced at $15 each.
