The second annual Student Theatre Showcase returns to the Black Box Theater at 7:30 pm, Friday, May 19. This year’s writer’s workshop format will feature actors performing staged readings of original scripts. Performances will include “Our Last Kiss," a monologue by Nick Kime, ’18; “Stevie, Eternal”, a short one-act play by Sophie Hurwitz ’17; and “Hart,” an original musical with music, book and lyrics by Julia Riew ’17 and Brad Riew ’13.
While a typical night at the theater is all about the finished product, the showcase is all about the process. The evening is an opportunity for audience members to enjoy works-in-progress and for writers and performers to workshop their ideas and use audience reactions and feedback to further hone their craft. There is no admission charge. Tickets are available at the door on a “pay-what-you-choose” basis with the proceeds going to support the theatre program.
